Course 5A 5 miles (A: 330 miles) Just as I was approaching the end of my run, another runner passed me. I always hate getting passed, but with less than a quarter mile to go, I really hate it. | | Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 | | 8:37 am |
Course 4A 4 miles (A: 325 miles) When I got to my usual starting place, the parking lot was completely full. It's normally empty at that time of morning. There must be some sort of event going on in Lincoln Park. | | Sunday, June 26th, 2005 | | 7:29 am |

Course 4A 4 miles (A: 309 miles) Yes! I'm back on the road. After weeks of dawdling around and saying, "this weekend, I'll run agian," this time I actually got around to it. I didn't bother to time myself. Whatever I ran, it was not very fast. My knees feel fine and I maintained good breathing the whole way. My back aches, but that is to be expected. | | Saturday, December 25th, 2004 | | 9:27 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 305 miles) 43:57 8:47 min/mile | | Wednesday, December 22nd, 2004 | | 8:56 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 300 miles) 44:59 9:00 min/mile My back and heel felt better. My lungs are somewhat congested, though. | | Sunday, December 19th, 2004 | | 11:34 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 295 miles) 43:58 8:48 min/mile My back didn't hurt so much this time, but my heel hurt more. At least I was faster. There was a light rain, which is always nice. | | Tuesday, December 14th, 2004 | | 9:27 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 290 miles) 48:42 9:44 min/mile Felt very heavy and slow today, probably because I was, indeed, quite slow. No problems with my knee, but my back ached almost the whole way. | | Saturday, December 11th, 2004 | | 9:13 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 285 miles) 45:42 9:08 min/mile No problems with the knee. And the heel didn't bother me past the first half mile or so. That felt pretty good, actually. | | Saturday, December 4th, 2004 | | 1:11 pm |
Course 4A 4 miles (A: 280 miles) 36:44 9:11 min/mile No trouble with the knee, but the left hell was bothering me a bit. | | Saturday, November 13th, 2004 | | 8:33 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 276 miles) 46:13 9:15 min/mile After more than a month of not running, and more than two months of not running regularly, I have gotten much slower and heavier. But at least I got out there. Also, while I had no pain in my right knee, my left heel is bothering me. I guess I'll go out again sometime mid-week and see how I'm feeling then. | | Friday, October 8th, 2004 | | 9:01 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (271 miles) 41:05 8:13 min/mile The pain in the knee is back again. It came on slowly, starting at around 2 miles, and never got as bad as it has in the past. Still, I suppose this means it's time to give the doctor a call. | | Saturday, October 2nd, 2004 | | 9:32 am |
Course 5A 5 miles (A: 266 miles) 41:02 8:12 min/mile Well, I had planned to get out and run much earlier, but between dentistry, jury duty, twisting my ankle when I was in Bellingham, and more dentistry, I didn't get around to it until today. Also, one of the possible causes I had thought of for my ongoing knee problem was a softer bed, so I took the mattress pad off it a while ago. Then, the other day when I was changing the sheets, I figured it wasn't really making any difference, so I put it back on. And then after sleeping, my knee felt very out of sorts, so I took the pad off again. And today I finally got around to running again. At about 3.5 miles, my right knee began to bug me a little, but only a little. By the time I had made it up the big hill, I felt fine, and I feel fine now. So I'm pretty happy. I'll run again on Monday to see how I'm feeling then. The trouble is, if I still want to run the marathon, there's very little time left. 8 weeks as of tomorrow, and I don't know if I can be in shape by then. | | Sunday, September 19th, 2004 | | 8:11 am |
1 lap around Green Lake, inner loop 2.8 miles (A: 261 miles) So, after two weeks of rest, I figured I would at least find out if my knee was better now, or if I had a serious, lasting problem. I took a slow run on a nice, flat course. And my knee only ended up hurting a little. So that means I still don't know. Either it only hurt a little because I'm mostly better now, or it only hurt a little because I took it slow, it was a short run, and there were no hills. So I guess at this point, I go out again and see if I can run a longer and steeper course or not. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. | | Sunday, September 5th, 2004 | | 7:48 am |
Course 4A 4 miles (A: 258 miles) 32:24 8:06 min/mile So the last time I was out, on that 8 mile run, I developed a very bad pain in my right knee. And it persisted into the next day, and the next, so I decided that I'd perhaps strained something by trying to pick up right where I'd left off. So I took some time off, hoping that would allow the knee to get better, and then get back on the road, but not with such a long distance. But today, the pain is back. Not as bad as it was then, but if I can't run four miles without my knee hurting (and in fact it began hurting before I reached 2 miles) then I've still got a problem. And I don't know what to do about this. The pain doesn't feel like anything else I've deal with before, so I'm diagnosing from scratch. Troubling. |
